The study involved an exclusive interview with business leaders from 70 communication service providers in 42 countries. The goal, to provide a comprehensive picture of the business needs of the telecom operators in 2012.

"The line between mobile telecommunications (cellular) and the Internet have disappeared," said Frederic Astier, Head of Customer Marketing Operations Nokia Siemens Networks.

This study, he added, shows us that more and more telecom operators to consider customer satisfaction through quality and value networks as their competitive differentiation, in addition to acting as a broker / broker content for social network services, mobile application stores, television and voice over IP.

The study showed that compared to a year ago, the communications service providers are now better understand their role in the future in telecommunications and the Internet ecosystem that has joined.

Although voice communication remains the most important part of their business, about 78% say they plan to open their networks as a bit smart pipe for new solutions, while 69% said they intend to membundle voice communication services with different content.

More than half of respondents said that improving customer satisfaction is their strategic goals are most important in the next three years. This is followed by operational cost reduction targets. In addition, the respondents recognize the need to transform their businesses from telecommunications organizations into a network-oriented IT organizations efficient customer oriented.

This research is an important contribution to the debate about net-neutrality now.
